Published Date: 07-Jul-2017

Successful!! Thirteen years of JIST

Nearly thirteen years ago, the first issue of the Journal of Indian Society of Toxicology (JIST) was released under the editorship of Dr V V Pillay, one of the pioneers of Indian Toxicology. Then, Indian Society of Toxicology (IST) was a naively formed by Scientific Society with fewer members and thence inadequate resources. However, kudos to Dr Pillay, his endeavours have greatly widened the magnitude of both the JIST and the IST in terms of quality publications and members respectively. It is indexed through the World Health Organization (WHO) in the MEDLINE/Index Medicus for South East Asian Region (IMSEAR). And, the only peer reviewed Toxicology journal in India which is being recommended by the University Grant Commission, UGC (vide, UGC Journal No. 11071 with Serial No. 09733558) and the U.S. National Library of Medicine, (vide, NCBI National Library of Medicine ID 101321567). Now, JIST is receiving articles across the globe and across the specialities.

The JIST is unique, because of its following core qualities –

1. Only peer reviewed Toxicology journal in India which covers all sub-specialties of toxicology (Medical & non-medical) and increasing its audience base thereof.

2. Cheapest possible cost (both subscription cost & publishing cost) among all per reviewed, indexed Journals. While, the quality and credibility of its publications is sufficient to fulfil your official and academic requirements, e.g. promotion, clear government interviews.

3. Only journal which publish free of cost for its society members.

4. ‘Not to make Scientific publishing a business’ is our motto and we do encourage in preventing such predatory publishing.

5. Only peer reviewed Toxicology journal which is being subscribed by maximum numbers of Institutions in India.

6. The JIST never lets our peer Reviewers efforts go wasted, unlike other peer reviewed journals. We duly certifies the Review credit-point-redemption queries made to us by the PUBLONS (a popular International, autonomous scientific research Auditing body) with respect to our reviewers.

7. The last and the most appreciated quality of JIST – we provide technical support to the authors in making his/ her manuscript of a highest possible quality. We have the most robust editorial and peer review system.

Now, we are in the process of indexing it in PUBMED and some other indexing agencies. It will cover all of our issues retrospectively. The JIST has surfaced ‘JIST Reviewer Recognition Program’ to open up a chance to young toxicologists in the field. I am requesting to interested reviewers to send your request at our Email: jistox@gmail.com, along with the following details -

3. Membership status for Indian Society of Toxicology

My sincere thanks to Dr V V Pillay for all his patronage and incessant support in this thoroughfare of my editorship. I am also thankful to rest all those helping hands whose names due to space constraints not able take here for their support and co-operation.
